Daily insulin injections can be physically and emotionally challenging for people with type 2 diabetes. But there’s a new alternative now that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a once-weekly basal insulin injection called Onswik (insulin efsitora alfa-gobe).
Onswik is designed to deliver steady basal insulin over seven days, allowing people with type 2 diabetes to bypass daily injections.
It is the second medication in its class. The first, Awiqli, received FDA approval in March 2026.
