A North Carolina wholesaler has recalled almost 168,000 pounds of raw beef, pork, and goat — more than 80 tons — because the meat did not undergo federal safety inspection and instead bore “a false USDA mark,” according to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service.
The meat in question was produced by Star Meat Delivery on a number of dates before September 22, 2026, then vacuum-sealed and shipped to restaurants and stores nationwide.
These products were distributed in bulk with “A&D Foods” and “EST. 1363” on the labels, but retailers may have repackaged the meat with the store’s own price stickers.
The list of affected meats is on the USDA website and includes sliced rib-eye, beef short ribs, beef chuck, oxtails, ground pork, and pork butt.
The USDA notes that uninspected food poses a risk of containing undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants. However, the agency says there have been no reports of illness from the affected products.
Don’t eat or serve this meat, the USDA says; throw it away or return it to the place of purchase.
