With a dress code like Tailored for You, it’s no surprise the biggest emerging beauty trend of the 2025 Met Gala is a sculpted hair look—one with as much precision as the suits and blazers on tonight’s red carpet.
Leaning into the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” title, many attendees are taking a page from the past, donning vintage 1920s-inspired kiss-curls. The style is a pairing of sophistication and sharpness, and it’s got statement-making power. Some decided on a forehead-gracing kiss-curl à la Josephine Baker: Take Sydney Sweeney, who tucked her blonde locks into a swirling bun, with two forehead-gracing curls complementing her beaded cutout Miu Miu dress. Coco Jones adopted a similar approach to glam, sporting a singular zigzag strand with the rest of her mane pulled back into a floor-sweeping braid. Others opted for a modern iteration of finger waves, as evidenced by Laura Amos, or fabulous swoop bangs that could easily have been plucked out of the past. Simone Biles also offered endless inspo; the Olympian paired her retro style with a cobalt blue bedazzled minidress.
Ahead, a look at some of the vintage-inspired Met Gala 2025 hair looks we’re destined to re-create.
