Congratulations are in order for Saoirse Ronan.
The four-time Academy Award-nominated actor is pregnant. The news was confirmed by People after Ronan attended the Louis Vuitton cruise 2026 show, a visible baby bump on full display in a sleek black silk dress.
This will be her first child with her husband, Slow Horses actor Jack Lowden. The two have been married since July 2024, when they held a low-profile wedding in Edinburgh, Scotland. They reportedly got engaged in 2023 after meeting on the set for Mary, Queen of Scots. He played Henry Darnley, while Ronan played the titular role of the Scottish queen.
“Being with an actor is wonderful, because we understand each other,” Lowden told The Guardian about being married to Ronan. “We’re quite odd people, actors. We’re strange animals. So it just makes complete sense, and I understand why there are loads of other actors with actors… And it’s really useful for running lines, rather than with, like, your mum.”
In her cover interview with British Vogue in October 2024, Ronan opened up about her desire to have a family—and how she felt she was approaching the right moment in her career to do so. “I became successful when I was quite young,” she said. “So it meant that, actually, by the time I found my partner, I’m now at the stage where if it happened, I would like to have a kid. I feel fortunate enough that if I step out of this for a minute, I’m hopefully not giving it up forever. But, yeah, I’ve always wanted that.”
