Per tradition, New York City kicked off the month-long presentation (and celebration) of spring/summer collections. The hair and makeup experts tapped by fashion designers to create the beauty looks—which included icons like Diane Kendal, Dick Page, Guido Palau, Jawara, Pat McGrath and more—and while they are next-level in the skill department, you don’t have to be. Below, three easy trends from New York Fashion week to try this spring—and now.
Super Skin

We’re not talking about “no-makeup makeup”—we’re talking about literally not wearing anything but fabulous skincare (and sunscreen!) on your face when you walk out the door. At Collina Strada, models only walked with buzzy skincare brand Dieux on their faces, care of makeup artist Dick Page’s gentle tapping. At Brandon Maxwell, Diane Kendal used Merit Beauty’s line of skincare (and an ultra-light but targeted makeup application in specific instances) to get the fresh-faced look to match “Maxwell at his most stripped back.”

A continuation of last spring’s ribbon trend, for 2025 we’ll be seeing hair pulled back into ponytails, then adorned with a little something extra. Here’s the thing—it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. (Okay, the Khaite custom gold ponytail clips are fancy and extra, so sue us.) But Off-White’s sporty show proved that something you may just have hiding in a drawer around the house will do, too. There, Jawara wrapped sectioned-offed portions of the hair in chorded elastic to give a modern edge. Easy and effective.

Balletcore, but more (with a bit of Truman Capote’s Swans, too). That’s what the twisted, pumped up updos from LaQuan Smith and Wiederhoeft may feel hard to do on your own, all you actually need is a classic French pin like the one from Deborah Pagani and The Hair Edit. Plus a little product (something to add in grit, like a dry shampoo)—from there just twist, pin, and go.
