On the eve of last night’s dinner party celebrating Perfect Moment—the winter wear brand favored by adventure seekers who frequent Aspen, Cortina, and the like—it was as if the fates had called for a gust of cold winter air to sweep across Manhattan. Gone were the remnants of a steamy summer, and here was the not-so-subtle reminder to layer up. Partygoers did just that, opting for fuzzy knitwear and overcoats unearthed from off-season storage. They included Tamara Mellon and daughter Minty Mellon, sisters Ava and Isabella Massenet, Bambi Northwood-Blyth, Clementine Poppy de Vere Drummond, and model Grace Burns.

Following a runway appearance at Ralph Lauren’s Hamptons spectacle, walking figuratively and quite literally in her mother Christy Turlington’s footsteps, Burns now stars in the latest advertising campaign for Perfect Moment, photographed in Gstaad.

“I had never been [to Gstaad] before, but it was amazing,” Burns, who had taken the night off from studying for her midterms at NYU, told Vogue. “I had only ever skied in America, so it was just crazy to see the Alps. It was different, like when you see vintage photos of après-ski, it was that. We also kind of got the star treatment being with the Perfect Moment team. We ate lunch on top of the mountain, but there was no big bowl of chili or nachos. Gstaad is a little more elevated.”

Dinner unfolded in a candlelit dining room that didn’t feel too far removed from an alpine chalet, where Perfect Moment founder Jane Gottschalk held court, announcing the news of an impending retail pop-up footprint in SoHo opening next week and singing her praises of Burns, whom she has known for many years before her catwalk debut.

“Grace, thank you for co-hosting with me; I have been very, very impressed with your level of professionalism in front of and behind the camera,” Gottschalk told guests, raising her glass. “People will always say to all of you that you have very big shoes to fill, but from what I’ve seen, you will make your own shoes, and they will shine, and of that, I’ve got no doubt.”
