The actor is no stranger to hair transformations—Stone, whose worn many shades of red on the red carpet, dyed her hair raven black for her award-winning role as Bella Baxter in 2023’s Poor Things and went full skunk-streaked for 2021’s Cruella.
Rumor has it that Stone’s new haircut is tied to Bugonia, her latest film with Yorgos Lanthimos, which set to debut in 2025. Bugonia marks the fourth time Stone has starred in a feature-length Lanthimos film (the others are The Favourite, Poor Things, and Kinds of Kindness), and each time the actor has wowed audiences with a totally different hairstyle.
While we wait for further details on the film, it will be interesting to see how Stone’s new hairstyle plays out with her beauty and fashion choices, as well—to say nothing of how Stone’s longtime hairstylist, Mara Roszak, will coach her through this cut’s notoriously difficult grow-out period.
This close crop calls to mind Mia Farrow’s cut from 1968 Rosemary’s Baby. Or Jean Seberg in Breathless. Or Nicole Kidman in Birth. You get the gist… it’s chic!
