Dwyane Wade has been waiting for this moment. No, not the 2025 Met Gala, which focuses on “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” or taking a stroll down the blue carpet with his gorgeous wife, Gabrielle Union, wearing head-to-toe Prada to match the dress code of Tailored for You—though he describes those moments as “a huge deal” and the night “one of my favorite events of the year.” Both of these things just happen to coincide with some big news he is happy to finally be able to share: The retired basketball legend is the new face of iconic fragrance Aramis.
“I’m an everyday fragrance wearer,” Wade told me some days before the gala. “It’s: Wash my face, brush my teeth, put fragrance on. I want other people to have a memory of me through scent.”
His first scent—one he shared with his brothers and father growing up in Chicago—was the iconic Cool Water. “Watching my dad put it on showed me how important fragrance is,” he said. Since then, Wade has won three NBA championships and an Olympic medal—and become a father himself.
To finish look, Wade had his nails done by celebrity nail artist Thuy Nguyen. Pulling inspiration from Wade’s custom vest, Nguyen said they both wanted something clean and playful. “We added multi-colored dots over a chrome finish to bring in an unexpected, graphic edge while still keeping it cohesive with his full look,” she told Vogue.
Using DND Green Isle, DND How Do You Neutral, and a coat of silver chrome powder, the nails are sleek, but still show Wade’s fun personality. “Dwyane always shows up with an open mind and creative spirit,” Nguyen said. “He loves when we do something playful with purpose — and this was one of those moments. When I finished the look, we both smiled. It was understated, elevated, and totally him.”
And to finish it all off, Wade did a spritz—or three—of Aramis. “It has always been a dream of mine to be in a fragrance campaign,” he said. Now, at 43, his time has come.
