Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ready to wish the world a happy holiday season.
Earlier today, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sent out a digital card to professional colleagues and acquaintances—as per royal family tradition. It features several photos, including a number of the couple abroad in Colombia on a trip to promote Prince Harry’s Invictus Games. But perhaps the most notable? One that shows their young family—including five-year-old Archie and three-year-old Lilibet—presumably at their home in Montecito, California. Alongside them? Their two beagles, Mamma Mia and Guy, as well as their black Labrador, Pula.
It exudes an air of California ease: Harry wears jeans, while Markle wears a laid-back white sweater as she embraces Archie, who is midway through running towards his mother. Lilibet, meanwhile, has on a floral dress and white knee socks. “On behalf of the office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions and Archewell Foundation,” read the card’s message. “We wish you a very happy holiday season and a joyful new year.”
The card also provides a rare glimpse into the Sussexes’ family life: since leaving the monarchy in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have only released a handful of photos of their young children. The card notably does not show either child’s face, which is a common protective move taken by celebrities who wish to protect their family’s privacy—both Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber, for example, have taken great lengths to only show carefully cropped images of their young children. It seems that Harry and Meghan are carefully monitoring how—and when—Archie and Lilibet are seen by the world.
